In
simple language, hemorrhoids are swollen
blood vessels in the anal canal and lower
rectum. The veins are dilated.
Dilated veins are easily irritated and cause
pain, itching and sometimes bleeding.
Hemorrhoids can be internal or external.
Internal hemorrhoids occur inside the
rectum.
External hemorrhoids occur just outside the
anal opening.
Constipation is a frequent cause of
hemorrhoid formation (because of straining
in the toilet.)
Prolonged sitting or standing also cause
hemorrhoids to form.
Hemorrhoids often develop in women during
pregnancy.
High fiber foods reduce the occurrence of
hemorrhoids.
Conventional treatment may involve ligation,
surgery, creams, ointments or suppositories.
Creams and ointments may cause, or increase,
irritation because of allergic reactions of
the ingredients they contain.
The best treatment is Cryotherapy,
controlled cold application directly to the
swollen area. Relief is obtained with only a
few treatments.
An FDA approved treatment based on
Cryotherapy, is now available to the public
